History of the shisha
Steam instead of smoking
In 2010 the German company Chunga UG established a whole new product called Shiazo. Shiazo is a mineral alternative for tobacco, made of stones that are able to absorb liquids and release them when heat is added. Furthermore German officials said, that the so called steam-stones may not be declared as a smoking product, because smoke contains solid particles whilst the "smoke" of Shiazo is vapour only.
A short description of what a Shisha is
There are always a lot of questions about shisha pipes and the usage of a shisha. We want to explain everything you need to know with this short text.The words shisha, hookah or nargile always refer to oriental water pipes. Such an oriental water pipe, or how we like to call it: shisha, always has a glass vase at the bottom, a stem with the hose in the middle and a tobacco bowl on top. Of course there are many different styles of shishas, for example the Turkish, Egyptian, Syrian or Indian styles. Basically it is always the same: the vase is filled with water and the tobacco bowl is filled with flavoured tobacco. On top of the bowl you have to add aluminium foil with a hole pattern. Afterwards you will have to add a charcoal on top of the foil to heat the tobacco. The tobacco does not burn like in a cigarette. The flavours of the tobacco are vaporized, huge smoke clouds will arise. In the end the tobacco will remain as a black, solid crumb instead of ashes. The most popular question we were asked is, how harmful a shisha is. To be honest there are many studies on the risks to health, but it is not 100 per cent cleared, how harmful it really is. The latest studies from Germany say, that a shisha session of approximately 60 minutes is as harmful as smoking 2-3 cigarettes. There are more healthy alternatives for tobacco, though, for example the Shiazo Steam-Stones. Shiazo does not contain any nicotine or tar and therefore it is less harmful than tobacco products.
Wetting Agents
We always carry a variety of different flavoured and unflavoured wetting agents for your tobacco and shisha steam-stones. Wetting agents are a helpful tool to bring your dry shisha tobacco back to life without losing flavour or smoke. In addition you can use flavoured molasses to reuse Shiazo steam-stones by just adding the molasses to the dry rocks.
